Audition Information Casting Update: OPERA Western Reserve will be holding auditions on Monday, March 5th 2012 for leading roles in their November 30th, 2012 production of The Barber of Seville. All roles are open with the exception of Almaviva which will be sung by Lawrence Brownlee of the Metropolitan Opera. We will be casting for a rehearsal cover\young artist performance Almaviva. Auditions will be held on the stage of Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown, OH. Singers who wish to be heard for these roles should submit a photograph, resume, and a cover letter by regular U.S. mail to Opera Western Reserve: 1000 Fifth Ave, Youngstown, OH 44504, Attn: Production Director. Applications must be received by Friday, February 17th 2012. Applicants will be contacted by phone for specific time appointments if accepted for an audition in March. An accompanist will be provided for a $10 fee per auditionee. If you would like to join this ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Hae Jong Lee, Director of Choral Activities of YSU's Dana School of Music, please contact the Opera Western Reserve office. Those that are accepted for the audtion will be required to submit a $10 non-refundable fee to cover the cost of the accompanist. Casting Policy: Opera Western Reserve is dedicated to providing performance opportunities for emerging and established area singers. Preference is given to those who reside in, are from, are studying in, or have strong ties to the Western Reserve area (Northeastern Ohio & Western Pennsylvania). Those who have performed in past productions are required to re-audition for subsequent roles. Guest artists are engaged when roles cannot be cast in our area. Supporting roles are assigned to our Young Artists and to vocal students of the Dana School of Music at YSU Principal Audition Material: You may request an audition by submitting your resume, headshot and any other pertinent information by regular U.S. Mail (no electronic submissions please) to: You will be notified by mail as to the date and time of your audition. An accompanist will be provided. There is a $10 accompanist fee due at the time of the audition. Please include a list of the arias you will be prepared to sing, one each in Italian, French and English. Driving Directions Driving directions and other information will be included with the confirmation of your audition appointment. The audition will be on the stage of Stambaugh Auditorium and will be heard by Music Director Susan Davenny Wyner and General Manager & Production Director David Vosburgh.
