For it's fifth production, Opera Western Reserve honors Giacomo Puccini's 150th Birthday by presenting his most popular opera, Madama Butterfly.
Under the baton of Music Director Susan Davenny Wyner, the title role will be sung by Youngstown State University's Misook Yun. She will be joined by area artists Irene Roberts as Suzuki, Brian Keith Johnson as Sharpless and William Clarence Marshall as the Bonze. Guest Artist Clayton Hilley makes his debut with OWR as Lieutenant B.F. Pinkerton. Additional roles will be performed by our Dana School of Music Young Artists: Carrie Minenok, Max Pivik, Diana Farrell, Elizabeth Walker, and Lauren Hess. Additional cast members currently includes Joshua Taylor. Staging and scenic design will be by Production Director David Vosburgh with Costumes by Barbara Luce/The Costume Kingdom, and lighting by J. Anthony Ferrello/42 inc. Chorus direction is by Dr. Hae-Jong Lee and is compromised of members of the Stambaugh Community Chorus, Youngstown Connection and Dana Chorale. The Friday November 7 performance will take place in historic Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue, in Youngstown, opposite Wick Park.
