Youngstown, OH (February 17, 2024): Opera Western Reserve will hold live auditions on April 17, 2024 for the Main Stage Production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. The performance date for this production is November 22, 2024 at 7:30pm in Power’s Auditorium located inside the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown, Ohio. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in early November 2024. The details pertaining to the auditions are as follows:

2024 Main Stage Production of Verdi’s La Traviata

Performance Date: Nov. 22, 2024 at 7:30 pm
Auditions for the following roles:
● Violetta
● Alfredo
● Germont
● And all other roles

Audition repertoire for La Traviata:
Those wishing to audition for Violetta, Alfredo, or Germont should be prepared to present:
For Violetta
Scena ed Aria: È strano!… Ah, fors’ è lui – Sempre libera
Addio del passato
For Alfredo
“Lunge da lei” – “De’ miei bollenti spiriti”
O mio rimorso’
Parigi o cara – excerpt
For Germont
Di Provenza il mar il sol

For other Traviata roles, please prepare contrasting selections from operas by Giuseppe Verdi or Italian standard repertoire.
NOTE: Singers may also audition for future main stage productions: All roles standard repertoire.

● Deadline for applications: March 25, 2024

On-Stage AUDITIONS to take place by invitation
● April 17, 2024 – 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm
● Invited in-person auditions will be held onstage at the DeYor Performing Arts Center and will be scheduled by
appointment.

Emerging Artists for the 2024-25 Season:

Soprano, Tenor, and Baritone voice types
Audition for:
○ Emerging Artists ROLES: Violetta, Alfredo, and Germont

OWR Emerging Artists will be featured in the following ‘24/’25 programming for young audiences:
○ a reduced “mini-mainstage” presentation based on our upcoming production of La Traviata on Nov 22,
2024
○ other community outreach performances throughout the season

Audition repertoire for OWR Emerging Artists:
● One aria/art song in English
● One aria in Italian (if possible). Emerging Artist Applicants who wish to be considered for the
available roles and / or covers in La Traviata must include an aria in Italian
● At least one additional piece from your repertoire
