OPERA WESTERN RESERVE EMERGING ARTISTS PERFORM CLASSIC CHILDREN'S OPERA AT STAMBAUGH AUDITORIUM

Press Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OH (February 3, 2023): On Sunday, March 12 at 2:00pm, the Emerging Artists of Opera Western Reserve will present the children’s opera Jack and the Beanstalk in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Follow Jack’s adventure atop a magical beanstalk, where he finds himself in a confrontation with an impolite giant. The audience will learn about the importance of acceptance of people who may be different than themselves. This performance is adapted from music by Gilbert and Sullivan, Victorian-era theatrical partners, who created works such as The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado.

This educational and entertaining production is appropriate for children of all ages. At the conclusion, the cast will meet and interact with the audience. The show features stage direction by Robert Pierce.

The Opera Western Reserve Emerging Artists travel around the tri-county area to perform at local schools and camps. Opera Western Reserve (OWR) presents the only locally-produced, professional opera in the area with an annual performance at Stambaugh Auditorium each November. Previous performances include Lucia di Lammermoor, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, and La Boheme. For more information on OWR, visit operawesternreserve.org.
